Discover our passionflower

Unearth the serene secrets of Passiflora incarnata, a true treasure from Inglenook Organics, cultivated with care and tradition for your well-being.

Passionflower passiflora incarnata

Native to the southeastern United States, Passiflora incarnata has been treasured for centuries as a medicinal plant. Indigenous peoples, including the Cherokee and Algonquian tribes, traditionally used the leaves, roots, and vines to support relaxation, soothe the nervous system, and promote overall well-being. At Inglenook Organics, we honor these ancient traditions by carefully cultivating our passionflower, ensuring its purity and potency.

Contrary to what its name implies, passionflower is a calming, relaxing herb.  It has a long history of use in its native range.   An effective, but gentle herb, it has some analgesic effects, and is somewhat effective as a pain reliever for toothache, headache, and menstrual cramps.  It has strong antispasmodic actions.

It is also well known for its sleep inducing properties.  It is one of the best herbs for stress, anxiety, and depressioin.

To make an infusion, brew 1-2 teaspoons of the dried leaves and flowers for 10-15 minutes.  Honey can be added for sweetness.
